The Juvenile Project

The Juvenile Project is a collection of short films and stories about personal involvement in the juvenile justice system. It is produced in partnership with Cat and Fish. To date, we've completed three short films and recorded stories in Memphis, St. Louis, and Jackson, MS.

VIOLA shares the juvenile justice story of a mother, ROBERT shares the story of a young man who is incarcerated, and BARBARA shares the story of a public defender who specializes in juvenile defense.

VIOLA won a Special Jury Award at the Indie Memphis Film Festival in November 2015 and an Editing Award at the Oxford Film Festival in February 2016. ROBERT and BARBARA premiered in a community screening at the National Civil Rights Museum on April 13, 2017.

Many thanks to National Juvenile Defender CenterJust City, and the Law Offices of the Shelby County Public Defender for supporting this project.
