MAY: Inaugurate the Resistance, a multi-media exhibit at Crosstown Arts, brought together photographs, stories, and footage from the Women’s Marches that happened on January 21, 2017 in Washington, DC and Memphis, TN. Learn more details about the show, and stay tuned for new audio stories that we recorded on opening weekend!

APRIL: More than 100 audience members came out for our free community screening of three short films from The Juvenile Project at the National Civil Rights Museum on April 13th. NCRM executive director Terri Freeman moderated a lively Q&A with filmmakers and participants following the film. The three films were VIOLA, which shares the juvenile justice story of a mother, ROBERT, which shares the story of a young man who is incarcerated, and BARBARA, which shares the story of a public defender who specializes in juvenile defense. VIOLA won awards at the 2016 Oxford Film Festival and the 2015 Indie Memphis Film Festival. This was the community premiere of ROBERT and BARBARA.
